I don't know if I just got a bad batch of it or if Covergirl changed their formula for the Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation. This foundation used to be my "holy grail" foundation because it gave buildable medium to full coverage for my complexion. The texture was the perfect consistency and matched my skin tone perfectly. For my oily skin, it gave the perfect flawless matte look that lasted all day long. When I first started using it, it was new to their line a few years ago. (I didn't want to do a "First Impression" since I've been using it for years, but I'm putting in my opinion from this recent one I bought.)
HOWEVER,
I recently bought a refill of my 825 Buff Beige at Walgreens and I noticed something a bit peculiar about it.. the packaging said "new" on it..again. But previous refills I bought had ditched the new on it; so it forces me to believe that they reformulated the product. And I have noticed a difference..which is rather disappointing. The texture at first uses was more watery, the staying-power is a travesty because it just becomes patchy and loses it's pigmentation almost right after application and/or 10+minutes after. The color is way more orange/peachy than what I'm used to it normally being. I've tried to give it multiple chances, but every time I wear it, it just frustrates the hell out of me. Nothing I did worked, I tried using it with different application techniques and different primers. Nada. It even became more oily on my skin...which really isn't what I was used to. It always mattified my face and now all of a sudden it's oily?...not cool.
The picture on the left is without flash and the one of the right is with flash. With flash there really is no difference between the two, but without flash you can kind of see that the color on the left (my old one) is a bit more pale then the right (new one).
The thing that I've noticed now is that setting it with Rimmel's Stay Matte setting powder, helps the oiliness..a little, but still I hate setting my foundation with powders and I shouldn't even have to if the foundation is supposed to mattify my face. -_- But even today (3/14/15) I used the powder on top..looked in my cars rearview mirror and became disgusted with how orange my face looked. The lighting definitely has an impact on the way any foundation looks, but my skin shouldn't be looking patchy, orange and nasty immediately after application.
I bought Tarte's Amazonian Clay Foundation a couple months ago and I must say, it came as a pretty close comparison to the cheaper alternative. It is an investment, but if you want medium-full coverage that lasts long and high end products are your thing, this might just be what you're looking for. It delivers the same coverage and flawless finish. The staying power on this foundation was exactly how the Covergirl used to be. I am going to do a separate review on this particular foundation in a post in the near future. But let's just say I prefer this one over the new Covergirl foundation. COVERGIRL PLEASE GIVE ME MY HOLY GRAIL FOUNDATION BACK!
**My camera doesn't take defined high quality pictures, so you can't really tell how it looks on my face. So I didn't even bother to post selfies**
