*Sorry for the post with no content I published earlier. Somehow it got deleted after I finished it last week*
This: For the past few months I have been getting my knock-off beauty blenders at Ulta for around $5 each. And I thought they were the greatest thing ever and they are honestly! I actually loved the way that beauty blender (yes the broken one) blended out my makeup perfectly. The maintenance on it is so easy it's ridiculous. Just soap and water, no added money like the legit beauty blender has. However, the ones that I get break maybe every 3 months and it can get very annoying to have to rush to Ulta that frequently for one thing. But I also didn't want to invest in the legit Beauty Blender because $20 is a lot for a sponge... So I decided to give the Real Techniques Beauty Sponge a try.
That: I'm sure a lot of beauty lovers out there are familiar with the Real Techniques makeup sponge that retails for around $5-6 at your local Wal-Mart. This sponge has been almost glorified by beauty guru's on Youtube because all of Real Techniques products are pretty much a hit. But I have to be honest.. OH MY LANTA, do I HATE this sponge! I don't understand the purpose of the flat ended side, they claim it's to get around the eyes and nose..uh it has a tip, I'm pretty sure I can get around my nose just as good with the tip. The second picture defines how I hate the surface area it DOESN'T cover. It really covers absolutely nothing for me. Plus, this sponge soaks up a lot of friggen product! I've never used so many pumps just to get a medium coverage in my life! The only thing it's good for is blending out cream contour and highlight because of its slim, precise design. But that's about it. Sorry not sorry, I honestly dislike this sponge way too much.
Would I recommend?:
Honestly, I wouldn't. I don't like the design of it, I don't like how the "back end" of it is supposed to cover the skin surface when it barely covers anything. It doesn't stay damp so when I go to blend my makeup, it doesn't really go anywhere. When I first wrote this post I was going to praise it, but after using it a few times, I realized that I would much rather prefer my knock-off one that breaks after a couple months haha. Simply because it covers a nice surface area, it stays damp enough to give your makeup an airbrushed look and doesn't really absorb as much product as the Real Techniques one does.
Disclaimer: **You might have a different experience with it, but this is mine. I personally didn't have a pleasant experience with it even when trying matte and demi matte foundations. I don't know how dewy foundations look though**
**UPDATE (5/11/15)- My knock-off sponge was just on its last legs so I was stuck with the RT sponge and I have been getting more used to it. It feels like it takes a little longer to pack the product on to my skin and I still feel like it absorbs a lot of product. But I'm starting to like the way it blends my makeup!**
