My Life on Accutane

Being on this medication called Isotretinoin aka Accutane, has changed my life forever. It's a strong medicine that fights stubborn, harsh and cystic acne. If you haven't read my older post called "My Acne Struggle" than you can go click the link to read it and see what I was feeling about going on Accutane from the beginning and kind of my background story of having acne.

I was a bit nervous in that first post I wrote because there are a lot of harsh side effects to it and I didn't know if I wanted to risk it, but I knew it was my last resort. Ever since then I have been extremely happy with my decision and I don't regret it for one second. It really works and you get the results you always wanted. I have 5 days left in my journey with Accutane and it has been such a crazy ride, but I want to tell all of you with bad or cystic acne to definitely go to a dermatologist and talk to them about Accutane..if you tried everything else and nothing worked (like me).

That clear perfect skin is possible and you can achieve it! I feel so free to do the things I couldn't do when I wasn't on Accutane likee.....EATING CHOCOLATE! haha and not wearing makeup outside of the house. I no longer feel like I have to hide away and cry when people stare at my imperfections. Although, I have had some crazy side effects, like mood swings, dry lips, non-greasy hair, quick irritation and feelings of just wanting to be alone, I am so blessed that I didn't get any of the major serious side effects.

Right now the closest thing I get to a breakout is a tiny microscopic dot that goes away in a matter of 2 hours. All that I have left is the scarring and I am putting Vitamin E oil on it and exfoliating with a daily exfoliant from Aveeno and I have seen that it lightened it up and my skin feels smoother now. My dermatologist said that once you are off the medicine that's when the scarring will lighten up more and we can worry about it more when the time comes. She also said (which I believe is just a money scandal) that I would either need to do a laser or chemical treatment that would costs thousands of money to get rid of scarring, but I read up that it doesn't even work half the time and I am pretty sure Sephora sells skin products that will help for a fraction of the cost. But once she sees my skin now I think she'll be surprised and think of something cheaper to prescribe me.

Like I said, even with 5 days left, I can say that I am extremely happy with my results and I can't wait to get rid of these scars to have the perfect skin I have been dreaming of. I love showing off my skin as it is now and just being proud of my 6 month journey. It has truly been amazing and I will always recommend this product to anybody who has tried everything and nothing has worked for them, because this is the 1 thing that WILL work! Don't feel worthless, don't feel ugly, don't feel insecure..feel hopeful because there is an answer to your prayers, one that will make you feel amazing, beautiful and confident! C'mon.. who doesn't want to feel that way ;)

You can do it and I am living proof of it! I just cried looking at these pictures because I forgot how bad it was and how much I struggled, but I have come a long way and my confidence is completely back. Take a look for yourself!
